A moisturizer created for oily melanated skin that hydrates as well as protects. As odd as it may be oily skin doesn’t always equate to hydrated skin, and oily skin may lack water making it feel dry. The Clarifying Creme gives your skin the hydration it needs without clogging pores and helps to curb current breakouts while preventing futures ones. If you’ve been fighting the cycle of balancing water and oil in your skin, the Clarifying Creme has got you covered!

Why It’s Good:

Balancing the water absorption and oil production in the skin is a difficult trick but it’s one I’ve managed to master. The Clarifying Creme contains azelaic acid, niacinamide, and arbutin meant to combat excessive oil production, future breakouts, encourage even textured skin all while hydrating your melanated layer.

How To Use:

Following cleansing, scoop a small amount of creme to face and neck and massage gently. Allow 1-2 minutes for full absorption. Slight tingling may be experienced, which is normal and will subside in a few minutes.

Ingredients:

Aqua (Purified Water)

Hydration is the number one benefit that water can provide and it is essential to the overall health of the skin. Here it’s used as a vehicle to deliver the following ingredients to the skin.

Azelaic Acid

The diligent acne ninja personified, azelaic acid helps to reduce the keratin protein in the skin from blocking pores, which after the over-production of oil and bacteria causes acne. It’s used for its anti-inflammatory properties to help reduce redness and swelling. It’s great for sensitive and darker skin tones.

Niacinamide

If large pores and uneven skin are a concern for you than niacinamide will be your new best friend. It’s a water-soluble B vitamin that works naturally with your body to combat both of these issues. Niacinamide also effectively reduces free radical damage causing premature aging and skin damage. In the Clarifying Creme is doubles as a hydrator since it prevents water loss from the skin.

Sorbitol Glycerin

Sugar alcohol derived from fruits and plants, sorbitol glycerin is a humectant worthy of your attention. Humectant attracts water from the atmosphere and draws it onto the skin. Hydration is extremely important in maintaining healthy skin especially if you are looking to reverse past damage.

Cetyl Alcohol

It’s non-drying and won’t cause irritation, cetyl alcohol is a common ingredient in many skincare and personal care products. It’s an emollient and product thickener that allows the skin to stay moisturized twice as long.

Isopropyl Palmitate

With all that water and oil, how do you expect the Clarifying Creme formula to get a thick, creamy texture? Isopropyl Palmitate is a palm oil derived from coconut oil and it’s used here as a thickening agent. It can cause acne and clog pores when not diluted, but of course, it’s dilute here. You’ll find in most moisturizers and sunscreens on the market.

Stearic Acid

Another emollient working hard to keep your skin moisturized and hydrated. Contrary to the name, stearic acid doesn’t exfoliate.

Cyanidium Caldarium Extract

Cyanidium Caldarium Extract is derived from red algae and was found to help delay the aging process. There is little scientific research surrounding this matter but the few studies done have shown there is a link in retarding the aging of skin cells. While this particular ingredient may not be well known for its anti-aging properties, it was added as a skin conditioning agent.

Sodium Benzoate and Potassium Sorbate

Keeping your product, um, YOUR product, sodium benzoate, and potassium sorbate fight off bacterial and fungi growth in the formula. It’s important to keep contamination down to a minimum which is why I provided each jar with a product spatula so you don’t contaminate the goods with dirty fingers. Nobody wants to share this skin luxury with a bunch of bacteria. So, you’re welcome!

Cistus Incanus Extract

An extract derived from the leaves, stems, and stalks of the rock rose cistus incanus for purpose of conditioning skin and helping to alleviate acne and eczema.

Maltodextrin and Polyacrylamide

Maltodextrin and Polyacrylamide are normally used as a binding agent in skin care products and enhances the effects of anti-aging ingredients.

Olus Oil

Who doesn’t want soft, touchable skin? The olus oil is a skin smoothing active ingredient derived from the oil of pressed vegetable plants. After rinsing away the exfoliant you’ll notice smooth, and supple skin, with a lifted appearance. You have the olus oil to thank for that!

Arbutin

The ever so distant cousin to hydroquinone is arbutin. Naturally derived from berries such as cranberries and blueberries, it essentially does what hydroquinone can, but without the harsh side effects. If an even texture and skin tone is what you want, arbutin is key.

Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate

A water-soluble derivative of vitamin C, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate works by stimulating collagen and reduces melanin formation without the effects of exfoliation. It’s a great alternative to those sensitive to the highly acidic, pure vitamin C.

Hydrogenated Polyisobutene and C13-14 Isoparaffin

Mineral oil can be a bit too heavy for the skin especially if you are acne prone. Hydrogenated polyisobutene and C13-14 Isoparaffin are mineral oil substitutes that act as an emollient and moisturizer to prevent water loss from the skin and won’t clog pores.

Laureth-7

Derived from lauric acid, Laureth-7 is a natural fatty acid used in many beauty products as a surfactant or emulsifier. Here it is an emulsifier, as it keeps the aforementioned ingredients mixed together and evenly throughout the product.
